Friendly Kenly: North Carolina

Known as "Friendly Kenly", it lived up to its name. Kenly, NC, is the home of Charles T. Couch and his lovely wife, Brenda. After a long search on the internet, we finally found him and it was definitely worth the searching. Charles and Brenda showed us true southern hospitality (more about that to come). Charles and Dan were friends from 1968, where they both served in the Vietnam War. Although, Dan had not seen Charles since leaving Vietnam in Dec '69, Charles was extremely warm and welcoming to us. Dan said that Charles made such an impression on him that he wanted to reacquaint and continue the friendship started so long ago . . .

Never have we experienced such southern hospitality as we did in Kenly . . . Brenda, with all her charm and southern beauty, opened her home to us with sweet tea, and warm biscuits, but that wasn't all . . . she made a delicious home cooked dinner for us that included, pulled pork, roast beef, mashed potatoes, cucumber and tomato salad, coleslaw, hush puppies, biscuits, lima beans, ratatouille, peach cobbler, ice cream, sweet tea, etc. Boy, were we in heaven! Not only was the food delicious, there was plenty of it, and we felt right at home.

Saying goodbye is always difficult, the time seemed to go by so quickly. We are blessed to have Charles and Brenda in our lives and plan to continue this wonderful friendship for many years to come. God bless you both and many many thanks and love from the ' high plains drifters ' . . .
